Not too long ago I wrote the Top 20 Sources of Protein. To say it was a hit would be a small shot!

To keep with the momentum of providing some valuable resources I decided to track down and list the Top 20 Carbohydrate Sources. The importance of a list such as this relates to meal preparation. You can often times get misled by labels or extremely persuasive friend to eat certain foods. What is also a growing concern is when you are stepping into the kitchen to determine which foods should make up your meals.

My goal here is to simplify the data relating to carbohydrate sources.

Find below the best options available along with a basic breakdown of everything you could be eating.

No fad diets.
No restrictions.
No filter.

PS. I would also read the Ultimate Meal Plan to understanding meal portions.

Moving forward again!

Feast your eyes on the Top 20 Carbohydrate Sources:

  1. Brown Rice
  2. White Potatoes
  3. Sweet Potatoes
  4. Yam
  5. Taro/Dashene
  6. Taro/Edos
  7. Cassava
  8. Breadfruit
  9. Black Rice
  10. Spelt
  11. Teff
  12. Amaranth
  13. Barley
  14. Oats
  15. Fruit (ie. Berries, Bananas, Pears, Mangos)
  16. Quinoa
  17. Beans
  18. Peas
  19. *Pasta (Read labels if possible whole wheat)
  20. **Bread (Sprouted, Eziekial)

As always our measurement for most sources of carbohydrates align with 25 grams being one portion or pack amount. Throughout the day you want to strive to have serving sizes such as this to prevent the feelings of hunger. Total amounts may be modified to meet nutritional or health based goals. Otherwise you are smooth sailing towards the path of limitless results.

Hope this helps you maximize your time in the kitchen.
