How To Focus On Long-Term Fitness Results

Tips To Stay Fit and Healthy Over The Long-Term

Written by: Femi Doyle-Marshall

When we decide to improve our quality of life this simply means things need to change. Old habits, patterns or behaviours. Sometimes it’s a combination of it all. By understanding what variables are at play we can then find the power to focus on the things that matter most to us.

So this is what sparked my thought in this installment.

What are the things that are happening in your life right now that commonly prevent your ability to focus? What are the things that you can do to help realign your mind on achieving your outcome? How can you start taking the right steps today to better yourself?

Interesting thought.

To stay focused on fitness, fat loss and/or health you first need to have a foundation established that will help you get the results you are looking for. I will explain further yet as we prepare to dive into this topic think of the systems you currently have and determine if they are moving you toward or away from the direction you want to go.

Start With Clarity

Having a clear vision or goal in mind will allow you to apply the right steps. Tools and resources are a powerful thing when it comes to getting results. If you are not aware of why you are doing something then the tools you need may not be useful at all. Know what matters to you. Instill a deep reason behind it to get you started and keep you going.

Take Action > Modify > Repeat

Sometimes the things we were doing no longer will work. This doesn’t mean stopping is the best approach. Take action by finding a new way to achieve the results you desire. Change or modify things until you find a better solution or approach. Continue to reap this process until you find one that works best for you. This will help you stay focused.

Align Your Resources

The most powerful resource you have access to is others. On the journey to improve your health, fitness or fat loss results experts in the field can save you time. Many people have studied these topics which can fast track what you want and help keep you on track. Don’t feel like you have to do things on your own. Someone has the answers you are seeking. Ask and you will get what you are looking for.

Actionable Steps

  1. Find a coach that can help you get better results (ie. me or someone on my team, accountability group, support network)
  2. Track, assess and review the results you are currently getting (ie. set a baseline to know what areas you need to improve)
  3. Invest in quality resources or information to better yourself (ie. books, courses)

Many of the things we need to focus on will tie back to our current lifestyle or behaviours. By implementing some, if not all of the above points your results will become more long lasting.
